The Rehabilitation Interest Group brings together students of the Faculties of Medicine and Rehabilitation with an in-depth interest in issues of rehabilitation and physical medicine.  Future doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, technical orthopaedists and nutritionists are welcome to the interest group as the topics and clinical cases discussed at group sessions require a multiprofessional approach and cooperation between different rehabilitation specialists.

During the year various topical issues are considered in neurological and neurosurgical, orthopaedic, cardiac, pulmonary, paediatric and other patient rehabilitation, prevention of early complications in traumatology, psychiatry and rheumatology.

Our common goal is to acquire more profound theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in research and the use of scientific work in practice, as well as to learn how to work in a multiprofessional team.

The interest group sessions are organised once a month, in which usually 3-4 students present their thematic reports. The group mentor and invited field professionals usually participate in the group sessions providing comments and suggestions in relation to presented topics and answering students’ questions and encouraging discussion.  Practical sessions are held twice a year, during which members of the interest group have the opportunity to improve their practical skills in rehabilitation.

During the academic year members of the research group have the opportunity to develop their research papers both individually and in groups. Research papers are later presented at the RSU International Student Conference, Klaipeda Student Conference, etc.

Information about current events within the interest group is regularly sent via e-mail to members of the group and provided on the group Facebook website
