- Purpose: RSU Student Union (SU) represents more than nine thousand undergraduate and postgraduate students, advocating for their interests at all levels of University governance.
- Governance: SU has a multi-level governance structure. The highest decision-making authority of the Student Union is the Council, composed of 36 student members representing all RSU faculties. Council members are elected by fellow students for a one-year term. Their duties include making decisions on amendments to documents and regulations, delegating student representatives, overseeing RSU SU budget, and monitoring the work of SU Board (the executive branch).
- Representation at University: Students make up 20% of the following decision-making bodies at the University: the Senate, the Constitutional Assembly, the State Scholarship Commission, the Commission for Student Loans, the Ethics Commission, the Academic Arbitration Court, the Quality Council for Study Programs and Study Areas, among others.
- Representation beyond RSU: The SU is a member of the Student Union of Latvia, which represents the interests of all students in Latvia at both national and international levels.
