On September 22, s first-year student initiation "Fukši" took place in Arcadia Park, where around 200 first-year students gathered.
At the beginning of the academic year, the RSU Student Union (RSU SU) continues to organize events for students. Also this year, as usual, Fukši was held in Arcadia Park. This year's theme was the wild west, so the organizers and the first-years had to choose an outfit that matched the theme.
The participants had to arrive at 3.00 pm for registration at the RSU Sports Club, where the first activity took place - dancing in the parking lot of the sports club. At the end of the activity, the participants were divided into 12 teams. They had to come up with the names and draw the flags themselves. When the teams had appointed a captain and invented a slogan, under the leadership of RSU SU activists, the teams were taken to Arcadia Park, where the rest of the challenges took place.
Between 3:30 pm and 7.00 pm, the teams were taken through 12 activity stations. Stations included tasks such as pouring water from glass to glass using only the mouth. At yet another station, you had to turn around a bar stuck in the ground 10 times, run over parked car tires and run around cones. The three stations were created in cooperation with other universities - the Student Union of the University of Latvia, the Student Union of Riga Technical University and the Defense Academy.
For each of the station tasks, the teams were awarded points, which were added up to nominate the first three winning teams. After leaving the stations, the teams were gathered for the award ceremony. After the award, the participants kneeled down and took an oath to the RSU, repeating what was written in the oath roll. When the oath was finished, the first years each left their signature on the scroll.
At the end of the day, the participants, as well as the other year-round students of RSU and other universities, were invited to the evening party at the BAMS Pool house, at 10:00 pm.
