With an explosion of energy and ovations, the student sports and talent festival "Taurenis" 2025 came to a close

In June, the RSU sports and recreation base in Taurene transformed into the epicenter of student life. Around 250 students from various Latvian universities came together to celebrate friendship, movement, and creativity over two days – in the spirit of Taurenis 2025.

Saturday began early – with team registration, morning exercises, and of course, the opening ceremony. Festive speeches were given, and the RSU flag was raised by RSU Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons, RSU Student Union Chair Luīze Monta Remese, and “Taurenis 2025” Project Manager Alise Luīze Bērziņa!

Throughout the day, group stage and round-of-16 games took place in football, volleyball, streetball, floorball, and flag football. There were also classic team relays, individual events, and a brand-new addition – orienteering.

Meanwhile, alongside the athletic competitions, an entertainment program brought laughter, new friendships, and of course, the spirit of friendly rivalry.

In the evening, the stage turned into a real explosion of emotion – the talent show this year was simply explosive. Students danced, sang, and played various instruments! But the real star dust rained down on Nikola and Ričards, whose dance not only won 1st place, but also brought the whole audience to its feet!
2nd place went to the RTU team “Malāči”, who as always brought charm and rhythm. 3rd place was claimed by Jogita and Kārlis, who surprised everyone with an extraordinary show combining dance and humor.

As the bright lights faded into a campfire glow, dinner followed, a live concert, and later a DJ party that lasted until morning – making everyone forget their tiredness.

On Sunday morning, students battled in the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals for a coveted place on the podium.

And the results?
🥇 1st place overall – team “Stulbs”, who won a convincing victory with brainpower (or not?) and strength!
🥈 2nd place – just 1 point behind“Un vēl stulbāks” – apparently, names don’t always reflect the outcome.
🥉 3rd place – “Tētis tevi nemīl” – but we sure love them for their fantastic performance!

After the final matches came the award ceremony with medals, prizes, and ovations, followed by a joint clean-up of the grounds and warm farewell hugs – until next year!

Taurenis 2025 proved that the student spirit is unbreakable – sports, creativity, and friendship beat in the same rhythm!
Thanks to all participants, volunteers, sponsors, and teams!
See you in Taurene 2026 – louder, crazier, and even more heartfelt!
