Rheumatology Student Interest Group

The Riga Stradins University Rheumatology Student Scientific Group is a great opportunity for any student to expand their knowledge in this unique specialty – whether it is a student who is preparing to choose rheumatology as their residency and future professional career specialty, or someone who has just completed a rheumatology cycle as part of their studies, or simply has a desire to expand their knowledge and skills in this field.

The aim of this group is to provide students with the opportunity to become familiar with more common and rare rheumatological diseases, to promote the student's clinical thinking, ability to diagnose and treat, as well as to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, as it happens in real life.

The group is based on theoretical sessions, where there will be an opportunity to become familiar with various topics related to the specialty of rheumatology, with an emphasis on less covered but still very important rheumatological diseases and problems in this specialty. The aim of the practical sessions is to promote students' ability to act clinically, trying to both correctly diagnose the patient and prescribe appropriate therapy. Within the group, students will have the opportunity to become familiar with the everyday life and challenges of both rheumatologists and patients of this specialty, by organizing storytelling evenings.

An important emphasis in the group's activities is the involvement of students in research activities. This year will be no exception, offering students to create their own scientific research work.

At the end of the academic year, an Olympiad is planned on all the topics covered within the group, so diligently attend the meetings, listen and follow along so that you can compete for prizes! Who knows, maybe in the future this Olympiad could become an annual tradition of this group.

If you are a rheumatology enthusiast, a student with a dream of a rheumatology residency or simply want to supplement and strengthen your knowledge, feel free to get involved in the group's activities! We look forward to welcoming everyone so that the Riga Stradiņš University Rheumatology Student Scientific Group can operate successfully and develop!
