Rheumatology Student Interest Group

The Rheumatology Students' Scientific Circle of Riga Stradiņš University is a great opportunity for any student to supplement their knowledge in this unique specialty - be it a student who is about to choose rheumatology as their specialty for residency and future professional career, or someone who has just finished the rheumatology cycle within their studies, or simply has a desire to supplement their knowledge and skills in this field.

The aim of this group is to provide students with the opportunity to learn about common and uncommon rheumatological diseases, to promote clinical thinking, the ability to diagnose and treat, and to provide a multidisciplinary approach to patient care as it happens in real life.

Theoretical sessions are the basis of the group, which will provide an opportunity to get acquainted with various topics related to the specialty of rheumatology, with an emphasis on rheumatological diseases and problems that are less covered in the course, but are still very important in this specialty. The aim of the practical sessions is to enhance the students' ability to function clinically, trying to both diagnose the patient correctly and prescribe appropriate therapy. During the workshop, students will have the opportunity to learn about the daily life and challenges of rheumatologists as well as patients in this specialty by organising story evenings.

An important focus of the club is the involvement of students in research activities. This year will be no exception, offering students the opportunity to produce their own research work.
An Olympiad is planned for the end of the academic year on all the topics covered by the Circle, so attend the sessions diligently, listen and follow along to be in with a chance of winning prizes! Who knows, maybe this Olympiad could become an annual tradition for the Circle in the future.

If you are a rheumatology enthusiast, a student with a dream of a rheumatology residency, or just want to improve and strengthen your knowledge, feel free to join the club! We are looking forward to everyone's participation, so that the Riga Stradins University Rheumatology Students' Scientific Circle can successfully function and develop!
