The scientific group of anesthesiology and resuscitation has been operating under the auspices of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care of Riga Stradins University since 1974. The main goal of the group has remained unchanged to this day - to promote the theoretical as well as practical insight into the field of every student of the Faculty of Medicine interested in anaesthesiology and resuscitation.
The group holds meetings once a month. The majority are theoretical sessions, where current topics of anesthesiology, resuscitation, intensive care, as well as emergency medicine are discussed. The latest research data and case report examples are included. During the study year, the group organizes practical sessions, in which the members of the group have the opportunity to strengthen their skills in life-saving manipulations, such as ensuring airway patency, in-depth cardiopulmonary resuscitation, as well as in critical patient management. The group updates various industry-related conferences and courses (both international and local), often giving its most active members the opportunity to attend them.
One of the main tasks of the scientific group of anesthesiology and resuscitation students is to promote the development of scientific works - by helping to attract experienced mentors, additional professional literature resources, as well as organizing a separate meeting to analyze the scientific works of group members. Every year, with good success and award-winning places, the scientific works developed by students participate in scientific conferences both in Latvia and abroad.
